Remote Strategic Visioning

Snapshot of our remote Strategic Visioning process

Drawbridge was invited to collaborate on this project by Ann Marie Lei, a leading leadership facilitator and coach.

Client: A non-profit organization, dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and their ecosystem of teachers, tutors, and parents.

The challenge: The goal of the founder and the executive team was to create a strategic plan for the organization that:

    • Boldly envisioned their future, and the path to get there.

    • Created a robust foundation for organization design, succession planning, and fundraising.

    • Served as an alignment tool to enroll stakeholders - including funders, collaborators, and staff.

The added challenge? The strategic visioning process needed to happen remotely, engaging several stakeholders in an inclusive virtual process.

Our approach: Ann Marie Lei Consulting and Drawbridge worked with the client’s executive team and advisors to design and facilitate a process that was engaging, inclusive of all voices, visual–and leveraged technology. The client team met in two virtual workshops.

  1. Virtual Workshop 1 - focus on the core: This first workshop helped the team ground themselves in current reality, and get prepared to think about the future. We began by helping participants align on their core values, reflect on the past to distill key insights and then identify the external and internal trends impacting their work.

  2. Virtual Workshop 2 - focus on the future: This second workshop created space for future-focused thinking, whereby the team co-created a three-year vision for the organization. The team identified five bold steps for immediate action, and agreed on roles and responsibilities.

Final deliverable and activation:  After the workshop, the team left with a one-page vision map that summarized their values, three-year vision, the bold steps needed to get there. With this in place, the leaders can communicate their direction, align external stakeholders, and create a robust  “business plan” to attract additional funding. Their new vision will serve as a springboard as they grow and scale.

You have a special talent of actively helping summarize and synthesize the ideas of individuals and the results of conversations. This really allowed us to focus, and dive deeper.
